Our mission is to equip legal practitioners with the statistical and data science competencies required to understand, interpret, and apply quantitative evidence of racial disparities in criminal justice systems, with a specific focus on litigation and advocacy under the California Racial Justice Act. We support legal practitioners by strengthening statistical literacy, analytical reasoning, and the practical use of empirical data in legal proceedings.
We emphasize the accurate evaluation of data sources, methodologies, and limitations; the responsible use of statistical evidence; and the clear communication of quantitative findings in legal contexts. Through this work, we aim to enhance evidentiary rigor, support the effective enforcement of racial justice statutes, and contribute to more equitable and accountable criminal justice outcomes.
